Brand & Maker Overview

SyuRo

Making things with a story.

Torigoe, Taito-ku in Tokyo is a neighborhood of craftsmen—printers, can factories, fabric wholesalers, and hardware shops. SyuRo began there as a design studio on August 16, 1999, and was incorporated in July 2013. Alongside brand and product design, interior design/styling, and consulting, the company also plans and sells original lifestyle items through its shop/atelier in Tokyo and its online store. A second base, the gallery “SAMNICON” in Miyota (Nagano), also supports the brand’s wider activities.

Why We Love It

SyuRo pieces are nice because they do not force a single “correct” use. Use a can box to gather coffee gear or small daily essentials, and your shelf instantly feels calmer. Set stoneware on the table and the meal looks cleaner, with comfortable negative space. Keep a wooden tool within reach—leaving it out still looks tidy. Start with one favorite item, decide its “home,” then build a quiet sense of unity by adding pieces from the same line over time.

PROFILE About the Company / Workshop

SyuRo was established on August 16, 1999 and is based in Torigoe, Taito-ku, Tokyo. The company was incorporated in July 2013. Its work spans brand design, product design, interior design/styling, and design consulting, alongside planning and selling original lifestyle products.

Torigoe is a place where craftsmanship has been refined over decades. SyuRo wanted that expertise to keep flourishing, not disappear under changing times. By translating makers’ skills into everyday tools, the brand keeps the “spirit” of handwork close to modern life.

The lineup is easy to approach through categories such as Can Boxes, Stoneware, Cabinetwork, Textile, Lighting, and VVV. Choose tableware for the dining scene, boxes for storage, or fabric and light for the room. The calm, material-forward look makes combinations feel naturally cohesive.

SyuRo Tokyo operates as a shop and atelier (12:00–18:00) and also hosts events. SAMNICON in Miyota, Nagano offers comprehensive interior proposals, with opening days announced on Instagram. The online store is another way to access the selection.

From a craftsmen’s town in Torigoe

Torigoe is full of long-practiced skills. SyuRo aims to give those techniques a fresh stage in today’s life, so handwork is not lost to time. Tools made with a maker’s presence fit naturally into daily routines.

Design that reveals “invisible value”

For SyuRo, design is about noticing what you cannot always see—kindness, comfort, and small moments of care. A single plate or a piece of fabric can change how a day feels. Those gentle shifts are treated as meaningful.

Clear categories, easy to choose

The original lineup is organized as Can Boxes, Stoneware, Cabinetwork, Textile, Lighting, and VVV (Vann Vesi Vand). Pick by the scene you want to improve—table, storage, or room—then keep building from there.

Two bases: Tokyo and Miyota

SyuRo Tokyo is a shop and atelier. SAMNICON in Miyota, Nagano is another base, named from Zen words that point to cherishing the present moment in everyday life.
