Why We Love It

Olive oil made by a farm of three generations continuing on Shodoshima is different in freshness! Just by adding it to bread, your usual breakfast becomes restaurant-quality. What's even more surprising is the skincare leveraging the power of olives. The proposal of Shodoshima lifestyle — becoming beautiful both inside and out by not only "eating" but "applying" nature's blessings — is something to admire.

PROFILE About the Company / Workshop

Inoue Seikoen's steps began with one mikan sapling that the first generation planted on Shodoshima Island. Eventually taking on olive cultivation as well, the farm expanded its fields across three generations of parent and child — developing into a farm rooted in the island's climate. The very act of tilling fields and protecting and nurturing trees connects to the thought of olives — a symbol of peace and prosperity.

Olive trees are a crop that takes a long time from planting saplings to stable fruiting. At Inoue Seikoen, starting with stone-wall terraced field making, and accumulating delicate seasonal care — pruning, fruit thinning, harvesting — the farm raises healthy olives and citrus. By identifying fruits suitable for oil and harvesting them, and by performing oil pressing and processing in-house or at partner factories with attention to freshness, fragrant olive oil is born.

The ingredients raised this way transform into extra virgin olive oil and flavored oils coloring dining tables, as well as dressings, jams, and olive oil confit. The brand also develops a skincare series leveraging the power of skin-friendly olive oil — communicating the blessings of olives through both "delicious to eat" and "comfortable to use" products.

Through direct stores in Shodoshima and Takamatsu City, restaurants, and the online shop, many seasonal fruits, limited products, and seasonal gifts are also offered. Through photos and columns that convey the air of the production area, and through farm tour information, the brand continues to be one that lets people far away feel the scenery of Shodoshima and the thoughts of producers.

Three generations of olive farmers rooted in Shodoshima's nature

Starting from one mikan sapling planted in 1940, the farm has now grown into a farm cultivating about 5,000 olive trees and diverse citrus. Leveraging the mild Seto Inland climate and stone-wall terraced fields, the farm continues to protect island agriculture and scenery across generations.
