Miyanoen's history began in Meiji 2 (1869) when it opened a tea shop in Kanda, Ryogoku, Tokyo. Subsequently, in Showa 3 (1928), it began full-scale tea manufacturing and sales as "Miyanoen Chaten," and in Showa 32 (1957) established Miyanoen Co., Ltd. Today, based in Sayama City, Saitama Prefecture, it walks together with the region as one of the leading tea shops representing the Sayama tea — one of Japan's three great teas — production area.

The richness and sweetness born from thick leaves, and the toastiness from the traditional "Sayama hi-ire (firing)" — to pursue the flavor unique to Sayama tea, Miyanoen has introduced equipment such as tea storage refrigerators, color sorting machines, metal detectors, and tea component analyzers — balancing tradition with the latest quality control.

Tea master Keiji Miyano holds many qualifications including Japanese Tea Instructor, Tea Education Instructor, and Tea Master certified by the National Federation of Tea Trade Cooperatives. As a "Happy Tea Time Creator," he proposes ways to enjoy tea.
