marru
Fair-trade organic cotton — down to the sewing thread. Japan-made innerwear and cloth pads that release body and mind without tightening.
marru is a Hiroshima-based brand proposing "truly comfortable next-to-skin clothing" — centered on organic cotton innerwear and cloth pads. Using fair-trade organic cotton that doesn't rely on genetically-modified seeds, pesticides, or chemical fertilizers — continuing innerwear making committed to organic not only for fabric but down to the sewing thread. Through pattern design that doesn't tighten the body and fabric making that suppresses chemical processing — aiming for gentle wearing comfort for those who find coldness, itchiness, and tightening difficult. At the online shop — items chosen for body and environmental gentleness line up: tank tops, bras, panties, and leggings — plus the cloth pad "Meguru" series, Kurume Kasuri wear, skincare, daily goods, and food.
Why We Love It
Surprised by the thoroughness of "organic cotton down to the sewing thread"! Hiroshima-born "marru" proposes not just innerwear — but the new comfort of "releasing the body from tightening." Panties without elastic, and innerwear that seems to melt into the skin — once worn, the openness becomes addictive. A gentle brand that unravels even the heart — to try especially for women troubled by coldness and skin troubles.
PROFILE About the Company / Workshop
marru's beginning came from the representative Naomi Sakuragi's own and family's "coldness" and skin trouble worries. The realization that underwear directly touching the skin might greatly influence physical condition and mood — from such realization — reviewing one by one materials, sewing, and degree of tightening — and the brand's walk began from groping for body-gentle innerwear. Starting as "marru" in April 2010 — also opening an online shop in December the same year.
Even saying "organic cotton" — somewhere in the processes from cultivation, spinning, dyeing, to finishing — processes with large skin burden and environmental load may enter. marru personally visited cotton fields in India and Tanzania, spinning and fabric factories, and domestic dye factories and sewing factories — pioneering trustworthy routes as "commitment to material selection." Built a system of processing cotton flowers cultivated in fair-trade projects into fabric domestically and sewing at "face-visible" factories.
In 2013 — established Marru Co., Ltd. and opened a physical store in Hiroshima City. Subsequently — moved to the base "marru sou" — consolidating showroom, sewing factory, and office functions — nurturing it as a place where the brand's worldview can be experienced. Not only organic cotton innerwear — also selecting cloth pad "Meguru" series, and clothing, miscellaneous goods, and food where producer faces are visible — proposing "roundly connected" living.
Now — through original innerwear like tank tops, bras, panties, and leggings — and recommendation pages by worry like "for those who find skin stimulation difficult" and "for those who worry about coldness," online consultations, and lectures and events — marru continues to nurture relationships long with users nationwide. Going forward — with the axis of "routes from production to disposal being comfortable ones" — continues making Japan-made innerwear that unravels skin and heart.
An organic cotton brand aiming for "truly comfortable next-to-skin clothing"
marru is a brand proposing "things that accompany the skin" — centered on organic cotton innerwear. Not just using organic cotton — but cherishing the sensation of "feeling relieved when worn" and "calming" — performing making that gazes at touch, wearing feel, and comfort in daily life. Supported as innerwear that accompanies those with sensitive skin and those troubled by coldness and tightening.
Fair-trade organic cotton — from cotton flower to sewing thread
marru's original innerwear uses cotton from non-genetically-modified seeds — grown pesticide-free and chemical-fertilizer-free as fair-trade organic cotton. Using organic cotton not only for fabric but down to the sewing thread — and selecting dyeing and finish processing checked by one's own eyes and skin. Innerwear cherishing the relationship where farm workers, their families, we who use, and the environment connect "roundly (marru)."
Non-tightening pattern design and innerwear that arranges the body
Rather than strongly tightening with elastic and wires — aiming for innerwear that supports while keeping the body comfortable through three-dimensional patterns along body curves and moderately-fitting fabric design. The lineup of belly warmers, leggings, and panties conscious of cold measures is also substantial — also gathering many voices saying "my physical condition changed when I changed my underwear."
"marru sou" in Hiroshima's Honkawa-cho — a place of learning and encounter that spreads
"marru sou" — in Honkawa-cho, Naka-ku, Hiroshima City — is marru's base where a physical store, office, and small sewing factory are integrated. In addition to selling original innerwear — also serving as a place to learn about organic cotton, the body, and the environment through various plans like talk events, lectures, pop-ups, and free research presentations. Also conducting initiatives connecting with distant people through online consultations using LINE video calls.
