Kanaya-machi, Takaoka City, Toyama Prefecture — the birthplace of Takaoka casting — is a town where the production of Takaoka copperware continuing for over 400 years still lives on. Shitsugawa Manufacturing, which has continued copperware production in this place, has held up the name "Kisen" since its founding — producing art copperware such as vases and incense burners that add joy and richness to daily life.

KISEN is a brand born from the wish to evolve the thoughts embedded in "Kisen" to match modern lifestyles. Keeping the traditional techniques of casting, lathe turning, and coloring intact, the brand proposes items that stay close to daily dining tables and relaxation time — in the genres of sake ware, tableware, and interior items.

Within the Takaoka copperware production area where division of labor is the norm, Shitsugawa Manufacturing knows the characteristics of artisans and factories at each step intimately — accumulating know-how in original modeling, casting, and finishing that faithfully forms complex curves and delicate details. Because of this background, the brand realizes unique forms where wood and metal smoothly connect, and weight and balance familiar to the hand.

Currently, in addition to "KISEN" for tableware and interior items, the company also develops brands such as "Kisendo" — centered on incense burners and Buddhist tools — and "KUON" — interior items for healing and prayer including orin bells and incense holders. Based at a showroom where you can simultaneously feel the innovation and tradition of Takaoka copperware, and through exhibitions and craft select shops in Japan and abroad, the brand communicates production from Toyama / Takaoka to the world.
