Why We Love It

I had no idea domestic grapefruit could be this delicious! "Yuyake Ruby," tree-ripened in the fields of Miyakoda in Hamamatsu, has a mellow acidity and is juicy enough to drip. The craft cola and marmalade made lavishly with that juice are grown-up flavors that bring out the slight bitterness and aroma of citrus. A hidden gem of Shizuoka that surprises you with the potential of rare domestic grapefruit.

PROFILE About the Company / Workshop

The starting point was a simple question from a member who normally works as an office worker: "I want more people to know about our local grapefruit." Volunteers with no farming background gathered to launch a juice-making project from zero.

For fruit production, the team partners with the Maruhama Citrus Agricultural Cooperative Federation in Kita Ward, Hamamatsu, and for juice production, with the Type-B Employment Continuance Support Office "KuRuMiX." The production area, welfare facility and planning team each bring their strengths together, layering a story and value into a single bottle.

Starting with a crowdfunding campaign, the team gradually expands its activities — marche appearances, pop-ups, recipe proposals and more. From "your morning glass to a gift for someone special," it aims for a juice that fits various scenes in daily life.

A Hamamatsu juice aiming to be Japan's best domestic grapefruit drink

Born in Hamamatsu — known as a major production area of domestic grapefruit — this juice brand uses only domestic fruit. In cooperation with local farmers and businesses, the team works on creating a new Hamamatsu signature item.

Rare "Hamamatsu Ruby" hand-squeezed one by one

The team hand-peels each fruit of the beautifully red "Hamamatsu Ruby" variety, carefully removes the white pith that causes bitterness, then presses the juice. The aim is a clear, clean flavor and aroma you cannot get by pressing the whole fruit at once.

No concentrate; flash pasteurization protects flavor

Rather than concentrating the juice and reconstituting with water, the freshly pressed juice is flash-pasteurized at high heat for a short time and bottled as is. By minimizing heat exposure, it keeps the natural freshness of grapefruit.
