Tea, sea, and bamboo crafts. Setting up relaxation time in Shizuoka.

Known as Japan's number one tea-producing area, Shizuoka is a prefecture where you can enjoy diverse production areas and flavors, such as Honyama tea, Kawane tea, and Makinohara's deep-steamed tea. With seafood and wasabi from Suruga Bay, fruit sweets, and crafts like Suruga bamboo basketry (Sensuji-zaiku) and lacquerware, it's a land perfect for creating a Made in Japan-first tea time and relaxing space.

Shizuoka Tea You'll Want to Drink Every Day

Depending on the production area—Honyama, Kawane, Tenryu, Makinohara, etc.—the aroma and astringency differ, making Shizuoka tea active from daily cups to special guest moments. We will introduce teas you'd want to choose according to the rhythm of your lifestyle, such as deep-steamed sencha, hojicha, genmaicha, teabags, and cold-brew blends.

Sweet and Salty Things to Enjoy with Tea

We gather foods you want to enjoy alongside Shizuoka tea, such as wasabi pickles, ochazuke mixes, sakura shrimp and whitebait furikake, tsukudani and canned goods using tuna and bonito, and strawberry, mandarin, or melon jams and jellies. We will focus on "tea accompaniments" fitting for both snack time and meals.

Suruga Bamboo Crafts and Lacquerware: Tableware and Tools for Tea Time

Baskets and lampshades of Suruga bamboo crafts (Sensuji-zaiku) made by assembling thin bamboo strips, as well as Shizuoka's lacquerware and Japanese-dyed textiles, softly stage your tea time. We will introduce tableware and tools you'll want to choose alongside your tea leaves, like teacups, saucers, tea canisters, and trays.
