HUIS

HUIS is a brand born to shine light on high-quality fabrics cultivated in "Enshu" — a textile producing region in western Shizuoka Prefecture. Starting from respect for Enshu textiles, with the theme "quality fabric as everyday wear," the brand proposes — as everyday-use clothes — fabrics that had been used for formal wear and premium shirts.

In the Enshu producing region, old-style shuttle looms inherited since postwar, plus many factories and craftsmen supporting fabric making through division-of-labor systems, remain. However, due to apparel's mass production and low pricing wave — much high-quality Enshu textile was relegated to use only for famous overseas brands or some premium items. HUIS tries to connect the producing region's present and future by delivering such "value hard to notice" as everyday clothing.

Much of the fabric is woven by producing-region factories like Furuhashi Orifu — a long-established Enshu loom shop. Using quality natural materials — SUVIN COTTON, Giza cotton, organic cotton, cotton grown in Kurumeki terraced fields — and slowly weaving on old-style shuttle looms — textiles with rich expressions characteristic of HUIS are born.

Currently, centered on the online store "HUIS onlinestore," collections are developed at showrooms, dealers, and department stores nationwide. Through journals, columns, interviews, and YouTube channels — sharing fabric-making backgrounds and producing-region appeal — continuing clothing making that accompanies living as "everyday wear whose texture increases the more you wash it."

By slowly weaving — taking 20-30 times longer than modern high-speed looms — on globally rare old-style shuttle looms, the plumpness as if containing air, and supreme touch like carrying happiness to the five senses, are born.

From fabric design and weaving to sewing, HUIS clothes are all produced within Japan. By collaborating with textile producing regions nationwide — Enshu, Bishu, Banshu, Kurume, Wakayama — and leveraging precious remaining machines and craftsmen techniques in Japan — everyday wear is realized that combines comfort, durability, and the beauty of aging.
