CIOTA is an Okayama-born factory brand that started in the 2019 AW season. The brand is run by "Ciota Co., Ltd.," a sewing factory and fabric manufacturer-distributor based in Minami-ku, Okayama City. With its own factory and fabric-development capability behind it, a major feature is being able to complete every process of clothes-making in-house — from material selection to fabric design, weaving, garment design, devising sewing specifications and sewing.

At the center of CIOTA's making is "Suvin cotton," which could be called the brand's signature. An extra-long, fine cotton grown only in southern India, it is a rare material of which only a tiny amount can be harvested among the world's cottons. Using this Suvin cotton, it develops original fabric in-house. As an exclusive material with a silk-like sheen and a smoothness rivaling cashmere, it is distilled into diverse collections — denim, sweats, chinos, cut-and-sewn knits and more.

The brand's concept is "to be simple, comfortable to wear and of fine quality." Rather than chasing trends, its designs are characterized by putting the character of the fabric itself first. While based on vintage military, work and traditional wear, the clothes are finished as comfort basics with silhouette and balance carefully adjusted to fit modern life.
