UCHINO Co., Ltd. is headquartered in Nihonbashi Horidome-cho, Chuo-ku, Tokyo. Founded on August 8, 1947, it began as an export-towel specialty shop originating from the former Uchino Gofukuten. After shifting to domestic sales, the company expanded its towel offerings and now works across manufacturing, wholesale, and retail of textile products—growing into lifestyle proposals beyond towels.
Marshmallow Gauze® is one of the signature materials. Developed with UCHINO’s patented technology in pursuit of world-class lightness and softness, it weaves three layers of 100% cotton gauze by combining low-twist soft yarns with higher-strength yarns. The material is described as balancing moisture retention, breathability, absorbency, and warmth, and appears in sleep pajamas, relaxing wear, and baby items.
In towels, items like Fuwafuwa Gauze Dot combine two textures by weaving gauze and pile on opposite sides. They use Zero Twist X, an original twistless yarn co-developed by UCHINO and Kurabo, based on high-quality San Joaquin cotton with a special adhesive fiber at the core. The fabric aims to feel thin, light, and quick to dry.
