Nagasaki Craft Lemonade

Behind Nagasaki Craft Lemonade is Mr. Eguchi, who runs the warehouse cafe "BORDERLESS LOUNGE" in Nagayo Town, Nagasaki Prefecture, under the concept of "making the countryside of Japan a playground." Renovating a mikan sorting warehouse unused for nearly 30 years and serving organic ingredients and homemade drinks in a location overlooking Omura Bay — the most popular item since opening has been a homemade lemonade made with lemons grown by Nagayo Town farmers.

"Sweet drinks have the power to make people happy and heal mind and body." From that realization was born "Nagasaki Craft Lemonade" — as a drink where family and friends can drink together and take a moment of rest. Lemons grown in the citrus orchards of northern Nagayo Town are sourced directly from Mori Orchard. Lemons arriving at peak season from November to January are washed and sliced by hand, then carefully simmered with sugar — finishing into a syrup balancing fruity and slightly bitter notes.

The timing of removing from heat influences the balance of richness and bitterness — so it doesn't suit mass production or external commissioning. A small team works through the night facing the lemons. Deliberately choosing white sugar over kibi sugar is also because the team values lemonade's refreshing aftertaste, transparent color, and the simple lingering note unique to handmade. Borrowing the power of lemon's limonene and vitamin C, plus honey, the team hopes to be a cup that quietly supports the daily lives of adults and children in stressful times — that wish is contained in each bottle.

Craft lemonade born from a mikan warehouse in Nagayo Town

The preparation site for Nagasaki Craft Lemonade is "BORDERLESS LOUNGE," a cafe renovated from an old mikan sorting warehouse in northern Nagayo Town. In a location surrounded by citrus orchards overlooking Omura Bay, the team makes lemonade base as a small-batch craft syrup, using lemons delivered from local farmers.

100% Nagasaki lemons, additive-free syrup prepared by hand

Ingredients are only sugar (made in Japan), Nagasaki lemons, lemon juice, and honey. Lemons harvested at Mori Orchard from November to January are hand-washed one by one, sliced, simmered with sugar, and heated while balancing aroma and juice. Without additives, the syrup values the honest flavor of lemon and honey.

"Lemonade for everyone" — customizable tartness and serving style

At the store, three levels of tartness are offered ("Tart," "Tart Tart," "Devil Tart") along with more than a dozen flavored lemonades using seasonal fruits. At home too, enjoy diverse arrangements — with soda, hot, with black tea, or with beer. The appeal is making each family member's favorite cup from one base.

Labels and packaging feature original characters by "JAM STYLE" — a unit of Nagasaki-born illustrator JARO and designer misa. Together with local designer guruppetto design works, they totally designed the labels, boxes, banners, and pamphlets — building a worldview that feels warmly Nagasaki.
