Nagomi no Yoneya
Founded in Meiji 32 (1899). A long-established Japanese sweets shop of yokan and Chiba souvenirs, nurtured on Naritasan Omotesando.
"Nagomi no Yoneya" is a long-established Japanese sweets shop with its main store on Naritasan Omotesando in Narita City, Chiba Prefecture. Since founding in 1899 (Meiji 32), the shop has manufactured and sold numerous Japanese sweets beloved as Chiba souvenirs — starting with kuri yokan (chestnut yokan), the signature "Peanuts Monaka," and a variety of yokan, dorayaki, baked sweets, and seasonal fresh sweets. Through the main store and directly managed stores across the prefecture, as well as the online shop and department store events, the shop delivers Japanese sweets packed with Chiba charm nationwide.
Why We Love It
When it comes to hand-souvenirs for Chiba residents, this is it. The "Peanuts Monaka," shaped like peanuts, is not just adorable in appearance — the rich peanut flavor kneaded into the bean paste is addictive. As they started as a kuri yokan shop, the yokan variations are also abundant. The honest, warm flavor evoking the history of Naritasan pilgrimages is a reliable sweet beloved across generations.
PROFILE About the Company / Workshop
Nagomi no Yoneya's beginning was the "Kuri Yokan" manufacturing facility founded on Naritasan Omotesando in April 1899 (Meiji 32). The kuri yokan crafted by founder Chozo Morooka received numerous awards at the Tokyo Taisho Expo and the National Confectionery Exposition, and came to be known as a famous sweet representing Narita.
In 1945, it was incorporated as Yoneya Honten Co., Ltd. Since then, the shop has continued to earn high evaluation in domestic and international competitions — including the Honorary President's Award at the National Confectionery Exposition, and gold medals at the Brussels World Exposition and the London World Confectionery Exhibition. It has also actively engaged in product development ahead of the times — including canned mizu yokan and the pocket-type yokan "Yonepack."
In the Heisei period, the company name was changed to "Yoneya Co., Ltd.," and at the same time, the Narita Yokan Museum was opened and the "Nagomi no Yoneya" brand of roadside stores began. Products that leverage Chiba ingredients and regional character — such as Peanuts Monaka, Chiba Meguri, Nagomiruku, and Chiba pear jelly — were continuously born.
Today, through diverse channels — centered on the main store and confectionery workshop in Narita City, directly managed roadside and in-store shops mainly in northwestern Chiba Prefecture, the online shop, and department store events — the heart of "nagomi" (harmony) is delivered. The company continues Japanese sweets manufacturing considerate of safety, security, and sustainability — including manufacturing at FSSC22000-certified factories and SDGs initiatives.
A long-established yokan and Japanese sweets shop continuing for over 120 years on Naritasan Omotesando
Since being founded as a kuri yokan specialty shop in 1899 (Meiji 32), the shop has continued to walk the single path of yokan and Japanese sweets making — based at the main store on Naritasan Omotesando. It has long been beloved by locals and pilgrims as a souvenir for Narita visits.
Signature confection "Kuri Yokan" and the Chiba-rich "Peanuts Monaka"
In addition to the founding item kuri yokan, the signature product is "Peanuts Monaka" — peanut-shaped monaka shells filled with sweetened peanut bean paste. Holding numerous awards such as the National Confectionery Exposition and the Japan Gift Awards, it has earned high evaluation as a Chiba souvenir.
A diverse lineup and store network spreading across Chiba
A rich selection you can choose by use and scene — yokan, monaka, dorayaki, kuri mushi yokan, baked sweets "Nagomiruku," Chiba pear jelly, and seasonal sweets. The shop is developed at the Narita main store, roadside stores in various parts of Chiba Prefecture, and in-store shops at department stores.
