BLUE BLUEBERRY FARM

BLUE BLUEBERRY FARM's beginning was from the founder's long-held thought "I want to farm in my hometown Sendai." Quitting corporate life at age 49, in autumn 2021 he arrived at the abandoned farmland overgrown with grass and trees in Akiu-machi, Taihaku-ku, Sendai City. Without relying on heavy machinery, advancing clearance one by one by hand, the land gradually returned to its form as a field.

The encounter with blueberries came from advice by farming seniors. Starting seedling planting in 2022, the farm has grown to cultivate over 20 varieties — later 28 varieties, about 760 trees of blueberries. Leveraging the location near the inn district of Akiu Hot Spring — long known as a hot spring area — and with sightseeing farm opening and picking experiences also in view, the long-awaited first harvest was reached in 2025.

Meanwhile, what started one step ahead of blueberry harvest was dried fruits and dried vegetables product making. Crops have "seasons," and the period when they can be delivered fresh is inevitably limited. Furthermore, there are not a few produce items discarded as off-spec — for reasons like uneven shape, sun damage, or small size — even though there's no problem with taste or quality. So at BLUE BLUEBERRY FARM, by actively sourcing such produce and slow-drying at low temperatures without adding sugar or additives, the farm has produced additive-free dried fruits and dried vegetables that turn "waste" into "delicious."

In addition to farm blueberries, using vegetables and fruits grown by reliable farmers within and outside Miyagi Prefecture as raw materials, the farm produces diverse products — dried fruits with natural sweetness and aroma sealed in, dried vegetables that work in cooking, no-sugar fruit tea enjoyable as "drinkable dried fruits," and sangria base paired with wine. Each farmer's story and commitment is also carefully introduced on the blog and FARMER page — embodying Aomado LLC's mission of "Making agriculture a business, connecting people."

Going forward, BLUE BLUEBERRY FARM will continue challenging to fully leverage the value of produce arriving from the Akiu fields and from farms nationwide. While valuing both food loss reduction and body-gentle deliciousness, delivering small luxuries that quietly accompany daily life — that's the form this farm brand aims for.
