Berry Planet

Berry Planet's roots are in "Fukanuma Farm" — long continuing strawberry cultivation in Yamamoto Town, Watari-gun, Miyagi Prefecture — and the agricultural corporation "Sansanen" later established. Yamamoto Town is known as a major strawberry producing region — and Sansanen has continued strawberry making committed to water, soil, and environment for over 50 years in that land.

In the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake, the farm received devastating damage — but from the thought "we don't want to let Yamamoto Town strawberries disappear" — incorporating soon after the disaster, restarting as strawberry farmers. By engaging in not only high-quality strawberry production but also processed goods and strawberry picking experiences — exploring regional reconstruction and new forms of agriculture.

Within that flow, the frozen dessert "Ichi-gori" — made by shaving only fully ripened strawberries — was born. Cool sweets combining frozen fully ripened strawberries with homemade strawberry jam and condensed milk — without using any water or ice — supported by many people through event pop-ups — coming to be known as a representative summer strawberry sweet of Miyagi.

Berry Planet Co., Ltd. — established in 2018 — is a company with the mission of "delivering the appeal of strawberries to more people in more diverse forms" — starting from Sansanen strawberries. Opening the strawberry specialty sweets café & strawberry picking facility "Berry Planet Sansanen (Kanjuku Ichigoya Sansanen)" in Sendai Harvest Village, Kamiiida, Wakabayashi-ku, Sendai — bearing the role as a sharing base for Sendai-grown strawberries — through direct sales, café menus, and experience content.

Going forward, Berry Planet — while moving between the two fields of Yamamoto Town and Sendai City — will birth new strawberry sweets and experiences from producer perspectives. Through seasonal strawberry picking, food education events, and the online shop — as "the Planet of Strawberries" connecting producing region and city, makers and eaters — continuing to propose rich time with strawberries.
