Seki Magoroku
A serious knife brand born in Seki, the city of blades, carrying on the craft and spirit of the swordsmith "Magoroku of Seki."
Seki Magoroku is a knife brand fusing the swordsmithing tradition handed down in Seki City, Gifu Prefecture, with the advanced craftsmanship of the Kai Group. Boasting one of the top market shares among household knife brands in Japan, it is supported from Japanese homes to professional kitchens with a broad lineup — from santoku, gyuto and petty to Japanese knives, specialty knives, whetstones and kitchen tools.
Why We Love It
A brand that could be called synonymous with household knives, yet the cutting performance of its higher models puts professionals to shame. Swordsmithing tradition is fused with Kai's advanced production technology, and the sharpness — slicing a tomato so thin it's translucent — is moving. The lineup is overwhelming too, from santoku to bread knives to Chinese cleavers. A brand of trust and proven results that lets you say, "When in doubt, Seki Magoroku."
PROFILE About the Company / Workshop
A brand from Seki, the city of blades, carrying on the lineage of the swordsmith "Magoroku of Seki"
Known as the city of blades, Seki City in Gifu is blessed with high-quality water and charcoal and has over 800 years of history as a producer of Japanese swords. The Seki Magoroku brand carries on the name and conviction of "Magoroku of Seki," the swordsmith who produced famous blades there, sublimating them into modern kitchen knives.
Top-class trust and proven results as a Japanese household-knife brand
The Seki Magoroku series is widely available at mass retailers, department stores and specialty shops nationwide, boasting one of the top market shares among household-knife brands in Japan. A long-selling brand chosen by many users, from those choosing their first serious made-in-Japan knife to cooking lovers who stand in the kitchen every day.
A series range from entry models to international design-award winners
In addition to staple series — the all-stainless, easy-to-handle "Shoso"; the "15000ST" with its beautiful wavy pattern; and the "Ginju," which lets you enjoy the cut of carbon steel — the flagship line "Seki Magoroku Kaname" has won international design awards. Its deep, layered lineup, selectable by price range and use, is part of the appeal.
A world of cutting that extends to whetstones, kitchen tools and grooming items
Beyond knives, the Seki Magoroku brand offers whetstones and sharpeners, domestic hinoki cypress cutting boards, kitchen scissors and peelers, and even nail clippers and hair-care items. Drawing on technology cultivated over more than 100 years of blade-making, it offers a complete range of "cutting" tools, from daily cooking to grooming.
