Seki Kikusui Hamono
A blade maker strong in farming and fishing, from the blade town of Seki City, Gifu.
Seki Kikusui Hamono Co., Ltd. is a maker that, for over 60 years since its founding in the blade town of Seki City, Gifu, has crafted a diverse range of blades — diving knives, oyster knives, hunting knives, various fishing-gear blades, agricultural blades, and home Damascus knives. Applying the Japanese-sword philosophy of "doesn't break, doesn't bend, cuts well" to modern blade-making, it pursues products that resist breaking and keep their edge even in rust-prone, harsh environments. From fishing and farming sites to the home kitchen, it delivers tools close to the voices of the field.
Why We Love It
As a maker that has long excelled at diving knives and fishing-gear blades, its toughness — "strong against rust," "won't break even in harsh environments" — is certified. The knives that distill that skill for home use are appealing not only for their cutting performance but also for their ease of maintenance. The "kiritsuke" knife from the new brand "KIRINAMI" combines professional-grade sharpness with home usability — a knife that tickles the heart of cooking lovers.
PROFILE About the Company / Workshop
A highly specialized blade maker "strong in farming and fishing"
Seki Kikusui Hamono is a maker that crafted diving knives, hunting knives and swords from its founding, and now manufactures mainly fishing-gear blades and agricultural blades. It offers many blades to suit the needs of the field — from agricultural ones such as flower shears and harvest scissors to fishing ones such as all-purpose scissors, fishing knives, diving knives, rope cutters and oyster knives.
Bringing "doesn't break, doesn't bend, cuts well" to modern blades
The phrase "doesn't break, doesn't bend, cuts well" is used when speaking of the Japanese sword. Carrying on that philosophy, it has pursued a structure that combines softness and hardness, and designs that resist breaking and keep their edge even in rust-prone environments. The know-how in heat treatment and material selection cultivated since its founding forms the foundation of blade-making trusted at farming and fishing sites.
Trust at fishing and recovery sites, born from diving knives
The diving knives it made soon after its founding have a track record of being adopted by divers, coast guards and militaries around the world. The rope cutters, eel scissors and recovery-knife series that apply that technology are valued as blades that resist rust even in the harsh environment of seawater and sea breeze, and that are light and easy to handle.
Home Damascus knives and the new brand "KIRINAMI"
In recent years, with the tailwind of the Japanese-food boom, it also focuses on knives for the home kitchen, such as home Damascus knives and the new brand "KIRINAMI." Its kiritsuke bunka knife using VG10 three-layer steel combines lightness, a sharp edge and a beautiful wave pattern, proposed as a knife that stands out even at a home party.
