Why We Love It

A mirror-like example of a factory-direct brand that makes you wonder, "Is it really okay for quality this good to be at this price?!" Because everything from yarn purchasing to knitting is done integrated in-house, the overwhelming cost performance and quality are realized. Especially "cold-protection socks" and silk products — once worn, repeat customers keep emerging, unable to let go of the gentleness.

PROFILE About the Company / Workshop

The story of Chiyoji no Kutsushita started in 1951 when founder Chiyoji Hasegawa began sock manufacturing as a local industry in Kakogawa. In the era just after the war, the business began with carefully knitting socks one by one in a small factory — and as manufacturing supporting the lives of local people, it has continued steady growth with feet on the ground.

Since founding, Chiyoda Textile Industry has performed all sock-making processes — from yarn purchasing to knitting, sewing, steam setting, processing, inspection, and packaging — in integrated fashion at the in-house factory. Under the stance of "making properly from start to finish," the company's manufacturing takes responsibility from taking a single yarn to delivering the finished sock to customers.

In 2009, internet sales officially started as the in-house brand "Chiyoji no Kutsushita." Engaging in product creation responding to voices saying "I wish socks like this existed" in daily life — cold-protection socks, five-finger socks, trekking socks. Items that balance touch and functionality — committed to materials like silk, wool, and organic cotton — have many repeaters and are loved beyond the region.

In 2017, a directly-managed store opened at Kobe International House SOL — sharing the brand from two bases together with the factory atelier store. Through POP UP events, collaborations, and media appearances — continuing to convey the comfort of Japan-made socks and the appeal of manufacturing born from a small Banshu factory.

Founded in 1951 — a sock-specialist factory brand devoted only to sock-making

Chiyoda Textile Industry Co., Ltd. — which handles Chiyoji no Kutsushita — is a sock-specialist manufacturer founded in 1951 (Showa 26). As a local industry of Kakogawa City, Hyogo, has long walked devoted only to sock-making. "Chiyoji no Kutsushita," named after the founder, is developed as a factory-originated in-house brand with the concept "socks that fit into life, joyful to wear."

Integrated in-house production from yarn purchasing to inspection

From a single yarn to a finished sock, many processes are needed — knitting, sewing, steam setting, processing, inspection, packaging. At Chiyoji no Kutsushita, all of these are performed in integrated fashion at the in-house factory at the foot of Mt. Takamikura in Banshu. Through an integrated production system not relying on outsourcing, quality control and responsibility to manufacturing are thoroughly maintained.

Diverse lineup — from cold protection to trekking

A rich lineup choose-able to fit lifestyle is the appeal — cold-protection socks and leggings using natural materials like silk, wool, and organic cotton; business socks; sports and trekking socks; leg warmers; arm covers. With layered sets and five-finger types — covering broadly from cold-weather measures to outdoor activities.

A directly-managed store is also developed at Kobe Sannomiya's Kobe International House SOL. Workshops and seasonal events are also held — making them places where you can directly feel the brand worldview and maker thoughts.
