Yamamoto Ichigo Farm

Yamamoto Town in Watari-gun, Miyagi Prefecture — where Yamamoto Ichigo Farm is located — is one of Tohoku's leading strawberry producing regions called "Strawberry Kingdom" alongside neighboring Watari Town. In this land blessed with mild climate and rich soil — as one of Tohoku's largest strawberry farms cultivating about 230,000 strawberries on 32,000 square meters total — daily facing strawberry making.

However, the journey has by no means been smooth. In the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake — Yamamoto Town's strawberry producing region was devastated by the tsunami — many producers were driven into situations where continuing farming had to be abandoned. Amid that — from thoughts of "let's bring strawberries back to Yamamoto" and "we want to regain pride as a strawberry producing region" — producers who stood up established Yamamoto Ichigo Farm Co., Ltd.

After the disaster, ground-planted cultivation became difficult — while exploring new cultivation methods, arriving at the current greenhouse cultivation and high-set cultivation style. Centered on Beni-hoppe, Tochi-otome, and Mou-ikko — cultivating strawberries in 10 greenhouses. To offer only fully ripened strawberries with time and care — raising carefully while discerning each grain's condition.

At the farm — cherishing the experience of "seeing, touching, and tasting with the whole body." Strawberry picking where you can pick and taste fully ripened strawberries on the spot, café "Berry Very Labo" where you can enjoy sweets and lunch lavishly using strawberries, winery brewing strawberry wine, "Yume Kobo Yamamoto Baum" baking original baumkuchen, and direct sales shop with Yamamoto Town specialty products lining up — within the grounds, diverse content centered on strawberries is gathered.

Furthermore, also focusing on "6th industrialization" — handling not only production but processing, productization, direct sales, and online sales in-house. Strawberry wine using 100% Yamamoto Town-grown strawberries — lavishly using over 700g of strawberries per bottle — maximally drawing out its aroma and flavor. Also, through diverse products like frozen strawberries, jam, strawberry butter, strawberry sweets, and baumkuchen — delivering the appeal of strawberries throughout the year.

Yamamoto Town — Tohoku's top strawberry producing region and also a symbol of reconstruction from disaster. The bright red bounty and the thoughts of producers embedded in it — Yamamoto Ichigo Farm will continue to share in various forms — "strawberry picking," "café," "wine," "baum," and "online shop."
