Kamiyotsubaki
A straight, simple drop from Camellia-covered Toshima.
About 140 km south of Tokyo, Toshima is an island wrapped in Camellia Japonica (Yabutsubaki). Kamiyotsubaki is a camellia seed oil brand made by JA Toshima, using only fully ripe seeds from the island. The lineup comes in three types — Shizuku, Kin, and Gin — each finished through a different refining process and texture. It's an easy fit for everyday hair care, facial care, and body care, keeping the routine simple and consistent.
Why We Love It
To start, pick one daily staple — either Kin or Gin — and make it part of your routine. Use a small amount on hair ends after towel-drying, or apply a thin layer to areas that dry out easily. If you enjoy choosing by feel, compare the three textures (Shizuku, Kin, Gin). For day-to-day convenience, pairing it with the optional pump head can make storage and use much easier around the sink or bath.
PROFILE About the Company / Workshop
Toshima lies about 140 km south of Tokyo. Known as an island covered in Camellia Japonica, it has long lived alongside camellia trees. Kamiyotsubaki is a camellia seed oil brand made by JA Toshima, connecting the island's heritage to modern self-care.
The starting point is fully ripe camellia seeds. On Toshima, seeds are collected after they mature and drop naturally. The oil is refined only from Yabutsubaki seeds, shaped by the island's unique conditions and long-practiced cultivation and refining methods.
The lineup includes Shizuku, Kin, and Gin. Shizuku is offered as a limited product with COSMOS ORGANIC certification and uses carefully managed, traceable harvest areas. Kin is finished to retain more of the first-press character, while Gin is further refined into a clear, smooth-feel oil.
For the future, the cooperative works on raising new seedlings to replace aging trees, and on strengthening traceability through shared records and area-based tracking. They also explore ways to use more of the camellia tree beyond seeds — such as flowers, leaves, and press-cake — within the research and initiatives they share.
Only Toshima Yabutsubaki seeds.
Toshima camellia oil is refined only from seeds of Camellia Japonica (Yabutsubaki), a traditional Japanese variety. It is treated as a distinct plant oil from "camellia oil / camellia seed oil" that may include seeds from other camellia species.
Three types by finish and texture.
Kamiyotsubaki offers three options. Shizuku is positioned as a limited premium oil with COSMOS ORGANIC certification. Kin keeps more of the first-press character, while Gin is further refined into a clear, lighter-feel finish.
Ripe seeds, collected with care.
Seeds are gathered after they ripen and fall naturally, rather than being rushed. The cooperative also works on traceability — keeping records by grower and area, and tracking harvest volumes over time.
Built for daily use, backed by local capability.
An optional pump head lets you switch to a push-style dispenser. Packaging materials are chosen with recyclability in mind. JA Toshima also holds cosmetics manufacturing and marketing licenses, enabling local bottling and OEM supply within the scope they support.
