ASTALIFT was born as FUJIFILM, facing the decline in demand for photographic film, declared a "second founding" and expanded its accumulated technology assets into the healthcare field. By repurposing its film anti-fading technology, collagen research and antioxidant research for the study of skin aging, the brand debuted as an anti-aging skincare line in 2007.

The brand's signature is the jelly-type pre-serum "Jelly Aquarista." This red jelly, formulated with proprietary Nano-Astaxanthin and dual human-type nano-ceramides, is used first on freshly cleansed skin as a "foundation care" step that improves how the rest of the routine absorbs. It has remained the brand's best-selling item for more than 15 years since launch.
