PROFILE About the Company / Workshop

Takano Foods' origin goes back to 1932 to "Takano Shoten," which started natto manufacturing in Ibaraki Prefecture. From the era of strict postwar food conditions — engaging in natto making with the thought of wanting to deliver natto — familiar to common people as a protein source — in tastier and safer form. After that, changing the company name to "Okame Natto Honpo" and then "Takano Foods Co., Ltd." — and the "Okame Natto" brand continuing today was nurtured.

What has been cherished as the starting point of natto making is commitment to raw soybeans. Annually ordering many varieties of soybeans from Japan and abroad — finely analyzing appearance, moisture content, and balance of protein and sugar — carefully selecting only soybeans optimal for "Okame Natto" and "Okame Tofu." By blending multiple varieties — realizing stable texture and flavor. Also engaging in soybean variety improvement and contract cultivation for future raw material securing.

The product field isn't limited to just natto. Leveraging soybean processing techniques cultivated in natto making — developing into the tofu and abura-age series like "Kinu Bijin," frozen tofu, and deli items. Furthermore, also developing products responding to rising health orientation — like the functional foods labeling product "Sugoi Natto S-903" focused on the power of natto bacteria, and "Sugoi Natto Gold" combined with plasma lactic acid bacteria sauce.

On the safe and reassuring manufacturing front — strict quality management system from raw material receipt through manufacturing to shipping — obtaining the international food safety management system "FSSC22000" certification at major factories. Through thorough hygiene management and traceability — daily improvement so products with the "Okame mark" can be chosen with peace of mind.

In recent years, also strengthening web information sharing — like corporate sites, "Know and Enjoy" content, and virtual factory tours. Through natto, tofu, and soybean nutrition information, trivia, and child-oriented "Children's Research Lab" — providing content useful for food education and independent research. Going forward, Takano Foods — through "Okame Natto" and "Okame Tofu" — will remain a partner supporting Japanese dining tables and health.
