Kitamura's story begins on February 11, 1923, in Chojamachi, Naka Ward, Nagoya, as a textile merchant called Kitamura Shoten. The business later moved into bedding manufacturing and sales in 1973. With a growing focus on sleep pillows, it evolved into today's Kitamura Japan, creating pillows from Kitanagoya, Aichi — always with the idea of helping people greet the morning in a better mood.

The signature lineup is the Gymnast series. It is designed with nightly turning in mind, combining shape and filling placement as a system. Many models use multiple inner chambers so you can adjust height and firmness by moving fillings. Some designs use six chambers with several materials, letting you tune the feel from the neck area to the head.
