PASIMA
Washable bedding born from absorbent cotton and gauze purified to medical quality.
Bedding touches your skin every day, so keeping it simple matters. PASIMA is a washable bedding series made by quilting layers of purified absorbent cotton and cotton gauze into a single piece. It is produced in Ukiha, Fukuoka, with in-house control from scouring to finishing, and it is finished without agents such as optical brighteners or fabric softeners. The quilt stitching helps the wadding stay in place even with repeated laundering, and it dries quickly for an easy care routine. The feeling of becoming airier and fluffier the more you use and wash is also an appeal. From quilts, pad sheets, pillow covers, to baby items — the lineup is wide — turning bedroom "cleanliness" into a habit. Also certified to OEKO-TEX STANDARD 100 Product Class I (for babies). Bedding that delivers the comfort of using on bare skin straightforwardly.
Why We Love It
What I like first is the lightness and the dry, gentle touch of gauze. After washing, it dries fast and comes back with a soft loft, so I keep a quilt on the bed as an easy "always ready" layer. I use a pad sheet to catch sweat, then a quilt blanket on top to keep the contact surface consistent. The way the bedroom looks neatly white is also pleasant. Smaller items like pillow covers and baby sizes don't take up much closet space when stacked — also convenient for travel. As an everyday tool, it's easy to continue without strain.
PROFILE About the Company / Workshop
PASIMA was born by Ryugu Co., Ltd., based in Ukiha City, Fukuoka Prefecture. Since founding in 1947, facing material making supporting "cleanliness" — like medical absorbent cotton and nonwoven fabrics. PASIMA as a bedding brand was born in 1995. From inventor Reiichiro Kakehashi's thinking — adjusting bedding close to skin into a form easier to wash and use with peace of mind. Even now, continuing to make daily bedding while overseeing processes at the in-house factory.
At the core is the quilt structure layering absorbent cotton and gauze. 100% cotton gauze for the face fabric, absorbent cotton purified to medical quality for the inner wadding. By changing material blends by layer — balancing the fluffy feel of containing air with handling ease. By combining as one piece with fine-stitched quilting — the wadding is less likely to shift even after washing. Also paying attention to durability to endure about 100+ washings — designed on the premise of daily care.
The lineup crosses cover, pad, and wrap. In addition to classic quilt blankets — pad sheets with five-layer structure, pillow covers and sheets, and baby series. There's also J-Color enjoyable for color — expanding the fun of "assembling bedding." With pad sheets catching night sweat and quilt blankets adjusting the skin-contact surface — comfort can be created by combination. The transition between seasons is also easy to adjust by layering style.
The key to manufacturing is time-consuming scouring and rinsing. In large kettles — while adjusting temperature and pressure — removing impurities over about 1-2 days. Designed on the premise of home washing — without finishing agents like optical brighteners, softeners, sizing, or antibacterial agents. Also certified to OEKO-TEX STANDARD 100 Product Class I (for infants) — accumulating quality management. Direct sales via web shop and "First PASIMA" gifted to Ukiha City newborns — also continuing activities that accompany life.
Quilted three layers of absorbent cotton and gauze
The surface is 100% cotton gauze. Inside, absorbent cotton purified to medical quality is layered — tailored into one piece with quilting. The softness of gauze and the air the absorbent cotton holds coexist. Quilt blankets have three-layer structure, pad sheets have five-layer structure — also choosable by season and bedding combination.
Straightforward cleanliness without finishing agents
Through repeated scouring, bleaching, and rinsing processes — drawing out cotton's original cleanliness. The point is scouring while adjusting temperature and pressure in large kettles — taking time to remove impurities. Without using finishing agents like optical brighteners, softeners, sizing agents, or antibacterial agents — finishing so the natural texture remains even after washing.
Daily-washable durability and quick drying
The fine-stitched quilting is designed so the wadding doesn't shift. Also paying attention to durability — to endure about 100+ washings. Washable at home, with quick drying — easy to handle. Of course on sunny days, also indoor drying — the wash-replacement cycle is easy to maintain.
Infant-grade certification and from the Ukiha factory
Certified to "OEKO-TEX STANDARD 100" Product Class I (for infants) — the strictest. Also receiving J-Quality certification — accumulating domestic manufacturing and quality management. A "washable bedding" made at the in-house factory in Ukiha City, Fukuoka — by a maker that has also handled medical absorbent cotton beyond bedding. Also continuing "First PASIMA" gifted to local newborns.
