Shabondama Soap

Founded in 1910 as a general goods merchant in Kitakyushu City, Fukuoka, it now delivers products at home and abroad as a maker specializing in additive-free soap.

Its mainstay was once synthetic detergent, but spurred by the eczema troubles of the previous president, Mitsunori Morita himself, he resolved that "we will not sell products we know are bad for the body," and in 1974 made a full switch to additive-free soap.

While protecting the kettle-boiling method (saponification) of slowly cooking natural oils and fats in large kettles, it continues making soap that is kind to both people and the environment, along with social-contribution activities such as the SDGs and the 1% for Nature project.

A gentle finish born from the kettle-boiling method

By slowly cooking high-quality natural oils and fats in large kettles and maturing them over time, it combines soft lather containing moisturizing components with a moist feel after washing.

Environmental consideration that looks all the way to the drain

It uses soap components that readily biodegrade after going down the drain — a formula designed to keep environmental impact low even after flowing into rivers and the sea. Through its medium-term sustainability plan and SDGs efforts, it advances making that connects to the next generation.
