SOUKI
Founded in 1927 in Koryo Town, Nara. Low-gauge socks and knit items made by "Japan's most exciting sock factory."
SOUKI is a sock manufacturer with its factory in Koryo Town, Nara Prefecture — known as the sock town. Since founding in 1927 — as the company name "Souki" (literally "creation joy") expresses — facing sock making with the joy of creating things at the origin. Specializing in thick socks using rare low-gauge knitting machines and vintage machines — developing in-house brands "SOUKI SOCKS," "Re Loop," "SUNNY & SNOWY," and "aiamu." Not only comfortable socks — but also continuing to create the "experience of enjoying" socks themselves — through "Charix," which knits socks by pedaling a bicycle, and "S.Labo," the experimental space adjoining the factory.
Why We Love It
The catchphrase "Japan's most exciting sock factory" is not for show! Socks slowly knitted by vintage low-gauge knitting machines have an irresistibly cute rustic texture. Playful experiences like "Charix" — knitting socks by pedaling a bicycle — are also appealing. Sock that lifts the mood just by wearing — like a lovable partner.
PROFILE About the Company / Workshop
SOUKI's history began with one sock factory founded in 1927 in Koryo Town, Nara Prefecture. As the company name "Souki" indicates — with "joy of creating things" at the origin — through postwar reconstruction and high-growth periods — long supporting sock making for many brands centered on OEM production. Even within Koryo Town — known as a sock production region — building a unique position as a factory specializing in thick, rustic low-gauge socks.
While continuing to grow long as a behind-the-scenes player — from the thought "we want to deliver factory-like socks under the factory name" — the in-house brand "SOUKI SOCKS" was born. Continuing to use vintage low-gauge knitting machines while maintaining them — proposing socks leveraging natural material textures. Also launched labels with different concepts — like "Re Loop" using recycled yarn considering environmental impact, "SUNNY & SNOWY" for knit items that gently wrap the body regardless of season, and "aiamu" of washi yarn × indigo dyeing.
Furthermore — from the thought "we want to deliver the fun of the factory itself" — developing "Charix," the experience device that knits socks by pedaling a bicycle. Together with "S.Labo" — the experimental space transmitting the appeal of SOUKI's craftsmanship and the production region Koryo Town through workshops and events — exploring new forms of communication through socks.
Going forward, SOUKI — with the stance that "quality being good is natural; socks pursuing the truly good beyond that" — continues to transmit from this factory and region: one pair that lets you suddenly feel happiness in daily living, and the experiences and encounters that spread through socks.

Special comfort born from low-gauge knitting machines and natural materials
As represented by the SOUKI SOCKS series — SOUKI socks are characterized by plump knit stitches using low-gauge knitting machines. Generously using natural materials like cotton, wool, and linen — with knitting methods that cherish yarn expression and air-containing volume — aiming for comfort that brings smiles the moment the foot passes through — not just "functional."
In-house brand development: SOUKI SOCKS, Re Loop, SUNNY & SNOWY, and aiamu
As factory-direct brands — developing different individual lines: "SOUKI SOCKS" for low-gauge socks, "Re Loop" using recycled yarn, "SUNNY & SNOWY" for knit items that gently protect the body from heat and cold, and "aiamu" combining washi yarn and indigo dyeing. Each clearly holds materials and themes — covering wide scenes from daily use, outdoor, to gifts.

Through "Charix" — an experience device that runs the knitting machine with bicycle-pedaling power and knits up your-own-only socks — and "S.Labo" — an experimental space with the theme "encounter, learn, play" — through workshops and darning repair experiences — proposing socks as a more familiar and fun presence.
