belmont was founded on November 1, 1999 in Sanjo, Niigata (Aramachi). The company began by planning, making, and selling fishing gear for sea, rock, and freshwater use, while also handling OEM projects. Its president is Yoshihiko Suzuki (appointed in 2011). The habit of designing for hands-on use still shows up in everything it makes.

Founder Masao Yamai wanted to build tough, easy-to-use mountaineering gear with the metalworking strengths of the Tsubame-Sanjo region. In 2002, belmont began releasing outdoor products such as titanium cookers and Sierra cups, plus items like lightweight crampons and snowshoes. Today, roughly 90% of its outdoor products are made in Japan using local manufacturing know-how.

Sierra cups vary by volume, shape, and features like folding handles and measurement marks. Titanium mugs come in single-wall and double-wall versions—single-wall can go over a direct flame, while double-wall focuses on insulation. Around the fire, belmont offers gear such as TABI, TOKOBI, TABI BASE, and the folding grill HIGATAMI. The Fire Square Kettle (1.6 L / 2.8 L) is also IH-compatible, so it can work at home too.
