Why We Love It

An Osaka group of artisans where the phantom sewing machine "Union Special" is still in active use. The "EIJI" brand T-shirts come with a lifetime guarantee — incredible! The clothes made aiming for "the best one piece of your life" are packed with overwhelming technique and confidence. A manufacturer whose love for clothes won't stop, including "Dubbleworks" that makes vintage fans nod in approval.

PROFILE About the Company / Workshop

Starting as a meriyasu factory in Osaka in 1926, Sankei Meriyasu has since its founding manufactured cut-and-sew items close to daily life — centered on underwear and school gym wear. From the postwar reconstruction period through the high-growth period, alongside expanding production volume, it polished sewing and dyeing techniques — walking as a presence supporting Japan's clothing life.

Even as overseas production became mainstream throughout the apparel industry, the company chose the path of maintaining domestic production from its Osaka base. Building networks with sewing factories and dye factories scattered around Osaka, it has continued to carefully make even labor-intensive items — including round-knit fabric on small-diameter circular machines, suspension-knit sweats, and vintage-specification cut-and-sew that few factories can produce.

Today's factory retains many vintage sewing machines that are scarce worldwide, and skilled artisans who can handle them are on staff. Techniques such as single-needle over hem stitching and flat seamer are evaluated by domestic and international brands from both comfort and durability perspectives — with many OEM and special-order production consultations being submitted.

Furthermore, in line with the needs of the times, the company quickly engaged with organic cotton and environmentally conscious materials, and supports the manufacture of GOTS-certified products. Through its in-house brands "EIJI," "Dubbleworks," and "DUBBLEWARE," it continues to communicate the goodness of "MADE IN JAPAN, OSAKA" not only within Japan but also to the global market.

Founded over 90 years ago. A cut-and-sew maker committed to "Osaka-made"

Founded in 1926 as a meriyasu factory, Sankei Meriyasu has integrated production of cut-and-sew items such as underwear, gym wear, and T-shirts. Even as production bases moved overseas, the company has deliberately valued relationships with sewing, dye, and dyeing factories around Osaka — continuing manufacturing committed to "Made in Japan, Osaka."

Vintage sewing-machine specifications by skilled artisans

A major characteristic of the company is deliberately continuing to use vintage sewing machines. It handles sewing specifications that few artisans nationwide can handle — such as single-needle overlock hem stitching, four-needle flat seamer by Union Special, and "tenchi-biki" stitching. By having experienced artisans carefully handle each delicate-adjustment-needed vintage machine one by one, cut-and-sew that balances comfort and durability is born.

Organic cut-and-sew making with GOTS-certified products

Sankei Meriyasu engages in the production of T-shirts and sweats (hoodies) with GOTS CSCS certification tags, providing the world with new options through products using organic cotton. Leveraging the know-how cultivated as a GOTS CSCS pilot program company, the company can develop cut-and-sew aligned with international standards and considerate of traceability.

In-house brands "EIJI," "Dubbleworks," and "DUBBLEWARE"

In addition to OEM production, the company actively develops its own factory brands. "EIJI" is a brand that brings together Osaka's techniques to propose high-quality T-shirts you can love for a long time. "Dubbleworks" is daily casual fusing American vintage with Japanese sewing technique. "DUBBLEWARE" is a line that uses materials such as organic cotton, proposing simple, mature casual style.
