When I think Matsunoya, I think of the "Market Basket" (bamboo basket bag). I first bought it for picnics, but it was so useful it's become a kitchen storage basket. The flat bottom makes it stable, the airflow is good — just tossing in bought vegetables and bread makes the whole kitchen look picture-perfect. The "small galvanized bucket" is my quiet pick too. I use it as a clothespin holder, and the retro look makes me a little happy every time I see it.

Loved by professional cooks. A strong, supple lifetime shopping basket.
A tote basket woven by craftspeople in Iwate using "shinodake" (suzutake), a thin and tough bamboo. Very durable, it keeps its shape even with heavy vegetables or bottles inside. The handle is wrapped in vinyl tubing to keep hands from getting sore. Turns to a rich amber with use.
