F.O.B FACTORY does not aim for anything extraordinary. The garments are rooted in vintage workwear, military pieces, and jeans — then refined into daily essentials. The phrase "Find new wisdoms through old things" captures the spirit: translating timeless details into clothes you can live with for years.

Kojima, Kurashiki City in Okayama is surrounded by sewing factories, processing facilities, and weaving mills. Studio Ecru began as an OEM-focused business, then shifted to becoming a manufacturer. The brand name reflects the intention of "transmitting from the factory," together with local professionals.

From carefully selected raw cotton to spinning, dyeing, weaving, cutting, sewing, and processing — the workflow is built for consistency and character. Denim is dyed through repeated rope-dyeing steps, while certain work and military fabrics may use slen dye for an aged look. Products are sewn one by one by skilled seamstresses, and much of the signature worn-in texture is achieved through manual processing. Most items go through a one-wash process so you can enjoy a relaxed feel from the start.

In 2005, the brand completed its steadfast model, "JEANS FLAGSHIP MODEL F151," after repeated trials and close dialogue with craftsmen. As overseas end users began asking to see and purchase items in person, F.O.B FACTORY also expanded international business activity and exhibited at "SELVEDGE RUN" in Berlin — an experience that strengthened confidence in their materials and manufacturing.

Starting with fabrics

Clothes making begins by thinking about fabrics. Rather than picking from what is readily available, they design materials themselves. You will find approaches such as traditional "nakashiro" dyeing (keeping the core of the yarn undyed) and the use of organic cotton for comfort — aimed at combining uniqueness with high quality.

Sewing with the right machines and hands

Sewing is treated as the heart of the garment. Together with craftsmen, the team researches and develops sewing machines, including modified vintage U.S.-made machines they brought in themselves. It is a way to reproduce classic details that mass production cannot easily achieve.

Flagship denim, "F151-23 SELVEDGE XX 5P"

The model uses 14.75 oz original selvedge denim made from Supima cotton. By increasing the thread count to the utmost limit, it becomes tough while staying supple enough to conform to the wearer. Repeated rope dyeing supports crisp fading over time. All-cotton sewing threads (in multiple thicknesses and colors), original engraved steel buttons, and stamped copper rivets add to the depth of the build.
