ASAHI traces its origins back to 1953, when Seisaku Tanaka founded a factory for manufacturing Western style tableware in Tsubame. In 1970 the business was reorganized as Asahi Tableware Industry Co., Ltd., and production capacity was expanded with large automatic presses and polishing machines, building a structure as a manufacturer that could handle both production and sales in house.

During the 1980s and early 1990s, ASAHI continued to enhance its production system by installing additional automatic presses and automatic roll forming machines, while also starting to import household goods from markets such as Hong Kong and Taiwan. In 1991 the company name was changed to ASAHI CO., LTD., and the company has since grown as a key player in the metal tableware industry in Tsubame.
