HARIO
From heatproof glass to your daily cup.
Based in Nihonbashi, Tokyo, HARIO builds everyday tools around its heatproof glass, "HARIO Glass®." The brand began with scientific glassware, then moved into coffee siphons and home brewing gear. Today you'll find V60 coffee tools, tea ware, and cooking items. In Koga, Ibaraki, HARIO runs a heatproof-glass mass-production factory known for being a "chimney-less factory" since 1972.
PROFILE Company & Brand Story
HARIO's roots go back to 1921 in Tokyo, starting with scientific glassware. Those skills in glass processing led to heatproof glass development over time. Today, the head office is in Nihonbashi, Tokyo, and the business spans home products as well as science and industrial glass materials.
At the center is "HARIO Glass®." The Koga factory in Ibaraki is described as Japan's only heatproof-glass mass-production factory, and it has operated as a "chimney-less factory" since 1972. It's a clear link between material-making and daily-use products.
In coffee, HARIO began working on siphons in 1948. The lineup evolved through continued research and resulted in the V60 dripper in 2005. The cone design and single large hole, paired with internal ribs, help you shape flavor through the way you pour.
Beyond coffee, the catalog includes tea tools and microwave-friendly cooking items. HARIO also develops industrial glass, including automotive lighting lenses. Home usability and material development move side by side inside the same brand.
Heatproof "HARIO Glass®," made in Japan
HARIO positions "HARIO Glass®" as heatproof glass made from natural materials and produced at its domestic factory. It's the clear, sturdy foundation behind many of the brand's everyday tools.
