Brand & Maker Overview

Dousin Plush

A small original plush maker that puts huggability and warmth first.

Dousin Co., Ltd., founded in 1994, is a plush maker that plans, manufactures, sells, and exports original plushes and goods. Holding up "being faithful to design and quality" and "treasuring above all the huggability and warmth of plushes," the company develops 100% in-house original collections — starting with the Japan-made "Fukafuka" series. From its Minami-Senju atelier, the company sends out plushes loved long across generations and borders.

Why We Love It

The moment you hug it, the "fukafuka" (fluffy) feeling that melts even your heart! Plushes handmade one by one by craftspeople in Minami-Senju have subtly different expressions — every one is truly lovable. Especially the "Fukafuka" series bears and rabbits — beyond children's gifts, I can fully recommend them as healing items for adults too.

PROFILE About the Company / Workshop

Dousin's history began with the 1994 founding. Since the launch, walking as "an original plush and goods maker," popular characters like Looney the Bear and Lilia the Black Cat emerged. Adopted in magazine projects and TV commercials, the small maker grew into a presence known by plush fans nationwide.

Subsequently, while handling US GUND vintage plushes and developing diverse original series — Real Animal, Good Luck, Wooly Clouds — the company continued plush making committed to "huggability" and "warmth." That commitment has been inherited to today's long-selling Japan-made Fukafuka series.

On the online shop, centered on Bear Fukafuka and Rabbit Fukafuka, the lineup widely includes limited items, face-selection eligible products, and one-of-a-kind vintage pieces. Communication looking ahead to time after welcoming — like the "face selection" service on X (former Twitter) and the carefully explained "How to Wash Plushes" guide — and care information sharing, are also initiatives unique to Dousin.

Even amid recent raw material cost surges, Dousin emphasizes "continuing domestic production" — and along with price revision announcements, frankly shares the background and feelings with users. Beyond mere product supply, the responsibility as a maker to deliver "one that stays with you long" is contained in each plush.

Japan-made plushes represented by the long-selling "Fukafuka" series

The Japan-made Fukafuka series — including bears, rabbits, and pandas — is a flagship collection loved long as Dousin's representative work. Committed to soft elasticity when hugged and selecting fabrics with good hand-feel, with finishes that value each individual's expression — creating the encounter with your "favorite one."

A small team handling planning, manufacturing, and sales end-to-end

Dousin completes everything in-house with a team of just a few people — from planning and design to sample production, mass production, and sales at the direct shop. Cherishing the attitude of carefully making while imagining "where this one will be delivered" — rather than mass production — the company continues updating Japan-made plush craftsmanship daily.

A deep lineup where original characters and vintage line up

In addition to original characters like "Good Luck" — happy delivery folk living in the forest — and "Wooly Clouds" with lovable relaxed expressions, the brand also selects diverse worldview plushes including US GUND vintage and real-animal series. From collectors to children, the wide lineup that accompanies each "love" is the appeal.

Also supporting OEM original plush production

Not stopping at the in-house brand, Dousin also actively supports OEM plush production for companies and character content. Leveraging long-cultivated know-how in design, material selection, and quality control, the company proposes original plush making that values worldview and story.
