STORY & PRODUCTS 企業について・代表的な製品

A soap-specialist maker from Sumida, with over 130 years of history

Tamanohada Soap (TAMANOHADA) is a long-established soap maker founded in 1892 (Meiji 25) as "Hoseisha" in Sumida Ward, Tokyo. In Sumida — blessed with water transport and long known as a town of soap manufacturing — it has carried on the tradition and skill of soap-making for over 130 years.

From the late 1960s, its outstanding manufacturing skill won recognition, and it came to handle a great deal of contract production (OEM) for world-class luxury brands. Then in 2003, fully prepared, it launched its own brand "TAMANOHADA." Under the concept of "feeling it on the skin," it makes products that combine playfulness with genuine quality — products that don\'t merely remove dirt but feel "fun to use, interesting to use."

Signature product lineup

Tamanohada Soap\'s products are characterized by original blended fragrances based on fine natural essential oils, and refined designs that fit naturally into daily life.

WELCOME SOAP Tai-Sekken (Sea Bream Soap)

A playful soap, happy in both color and form, with the "sea bream" (tai) motif so associated with celebrations. Molded from wooden molds used to make the Japanese sweet "rakugan," its delicate, beautiful scales and fins are rendered by artisans\' hands. It enjoys enormous popularity as an auspicious gift for occasions such as weddings, recovery-from-illness celebrations and moving-in greetings.

TAMANOHADA SOAP

A bar soap with a round, stable, lovable form, like a slightly flattened ball. Out of consideration for the skin, it uses a plant-based soap base made from palm oil and palm kernel oil. Excellent in moisturizing, cleansing and lather, it can be used with confidence all over, from face to body. It comes in six pleasant scents: lavender, orange, musk, rose, gardenia and fig.

TAMANOHADA Shampoo & Conditioner

A non-silicone fragrance shampoo made with plant-derived ingredients. With fine, rich lather, it washes clean without burdening the hair and scalp. Used together with the conditioner containing natural avocado oil, it guides hair toward health by drawing on its natural restorative power.

Frequently Asked Questions about Tamanohada Soap

Q. For what occasions is "Tai-Sekken" most often given?

A. It is chosen for a wide range of happy occasions, including weddings, new-baby celebrations, moving-in greetings and recovery-from-illness gifts.
The sea bream (tai) is an auspicious symbol that echoes the word "omede-tai" (joyous), and because soap carries the meaning of "washing away illness," it is also ideal for recovery celebrations. As it comes in a beautiful presentation box, it can be chosen with confidence even as a gift for someone of higher standing.

Q. Where can I buy the products?

A. They can be purchased at lifestyle-goods stores nationwide and at online shops.
They are widely carried at variety shops such as Loft and Hands, at interior and select shops, and at online stores such as Rakuten Ichiba and Amazon. They are also available at gift-focused online shops (such as antina gift studio).

Q. Is the shampoo non-silicone?

A. Yes, it is a non-silicone shampoo born from plant oils.
Made with gentle ingredients that don\'t burden the hair or scalp, one of its appeals is the "clean rinse-off" that only a soap maker can deliver.
