Sea, mountains, and city. Finding food and craft in Kanagawa.

The port towns and industrial zones of Yokohama and Kawasaki, the coastlines of Miura and Shonan, and the mountains of Hakone and Tanzawa. Kanagawa is an area densely packed with seafood, vegetables, livestock, and crafts within a compact range. We will gather food and everyday tools conveying the personality of the land, such as Miura's vegetables and local fish, Shonan's processed goods, and Odawara and Kamakura's woodwork, lacquerware, and Yosegi-zaiku (marquetry).

Vegetables and Seafood of Miura and Shonan

Ingredients born from Kanagawa's sea and farms, such as Miura peninsula's cabbage and watermelon, Shonan's onions and leafy greens, and Sagami Bay's seafood, are all easy to incorporate into daily cooking. We will focus on processed foods, deli items, and seasonings conveying origin labels and creators' ingenuity.

Woodwork, Yosegi-zaiku, and Lacquer Tableware from Odawara and Hakone

Kanagawa's wood and lacquer crafts, such as Odawara lacquerware, Hakone Yosegi-zaiku, and Kamakura-bori, have many items easily incorporated into daily life as trays, tableware, cutlery, and interior accessories. We will introduce warm tableware and furniture fitting for coastal or mountain lifestyles, workshop by workshop.

Western Sweets, Bags, and Sundries Born in the Port Town of Yokohama

Yokohama's bakeries, Western sweets, canvas bags, and sundries nurtured alongside the history of the port opening are also representative brands of Kanagawa. We will introduce items carefully made domestically, wearing a Western atmosphere, along with their stories.
