Omi beef, Lake Biwa fish, and Shigaraki ware tableware.

Spreading out around Lake Biwa, Shiga is a prefecture carrying a food culture tied to water blessings, such as Omi beef, Omi rice, lake fish, and funazushi (fermented sushi). At the same time, it is known as a tableware producing area, starting with Shigaraki ware, one of Japan's Six Ancient Kilns. When considering a Made in Japan-first dining table, this is an area where you can choose everything together, from the main feast to the tableware that receives it.

Omi Beef and Omi Rice: Lake Country Feasts

Omi beef, considered one of Japan's top three wagyu beefs, can be enjoyed not just via sukiyaki and steak but as processed goods like curry, shigureni, and hamburger steaks. Combined with Omi rice grown with the Lake Biwa water system, we will introduce products allowing you to enjoy a "special day meal" at home.

Funazushi and Lake Fish Tsukudani: The Taste of Lake Biwa

Food culture coexisting with Lake Biwa is a major feature of Shiga, including funazushi (fermented nigorobuna fish), lake fish tsukudani/kanroni, and red konjac. We will feature mainly products suited as drinking snacks or rice accompaniments, including small packs easy for first-timers to try.

Enjoying the Everyday Dining Table with Shigaraki Ware Tableware

Shigaraki ware, attractive for its rustic clay expressions and natural glazes, is highly active in both dining and interior decor via rice bowls, mugs, cafe au lait bowls, vases, and planters. We will introduce how to incorporate them into your lifestyle, focusing on tableware that comfortably receives food and drinks.
