WILDSWANS
Made to stay with you — then get better with time.
WILDSWANS is a Japanese leather goods brand launched in 1998 by three brothers with a clear goal: to make items you can keep using ten or even twenty years down the road. The brand focuses on carefully selected leathers, designs that help prevent early wear, and patient, hands-on craftsmanship. From wallets to small leather accessories, each piece is meant to age gracefully — developing richer color and a deeper sheen as it becomes part of your everyday routine.
PROFILE Company & Brand Story
WILDSWANS is built around a simple idea: longevity. Since its start in 1998, the brand has aimed to create leather goods that feel better the longer you use them. Material selection comes first, followed by thoughtful construction designed to help prevent premature wear.
The brand often works with leathers that show clear, rewarding changes over time — like SADDLE PULL UP, bridle leathers, SHELL CORDOVAN, and CROCODILE. Many users enjoy watching the surface become smoother and shinier as color deepens. At the same time, natural leather has its sensitivities, so daily handling and basic care are part of the relationship.
To support long-term use, WILDSWANS provides pathways for maintenance and repairs. Items are generally inspected before an estimate is given, and certain parts (such as snap fasteners) may be repairable depending on the situation. It's a practical system for keeping a favorite piece in service.
For in-person shopping, the brand operates WILDSWANS GINZA in Tokyo and WILDSWANS Atelier shop marusan in Ibaraki, next to the brand's production base. Ginza is known for a broad lineup of wallets, stationery, bags and belts, while marusan also carries shop exclusives and local Ibaraki specialties. An atelier tour is available by reservation.
There is also pattern ordering for select small goods — choose leather and color either in-store or remotely via Zoom. It's a relaxed way to shape "your" version of a classic piece and then let time do the rest.
A Japanese brand founded in 1998, built for long-term use
WILDSWANS began in 1998, founded by three brothers who wanted to create leather goods that would still feel worth using ten or twenty years later. Premium materials, designs that help reduce wear, and meticulous handwork form the core of the brand's approach.
A wide range of leathers with distinct character and patina
WILDSWANS works with various leathers for its original items. Well-known staples include SADDLE PULL UP, FULL GRAIN BRIDLE LEATHER, SHELL CORDOVAN, and CROCODILE. Each leather has its own look and feel, and many develop a deeper shine and richer tone over time. As with all natural leather, individual variations such as wrinkles or tonal differences are part of the charm.
SADDLE PULL UP: durable, with a deepening color and glossy finish
SADDLE PULL UP is a vegetable-tanned cow leather made by Tannerie Masure in Belgium. It is known for its sturdy, durable nature, and it tends to develop deeper color and a clearer, glossy sheen as it ages — perfect for everyday wallets and small goods.
Support for maintenance, repairs, and pattern orders
WILDSWANS offers maintenance consultations at its direct stores and accepts repairs and maintenance services, typically after checking the item's condition and providing an estimate. Some discontinued or limited models may also be eligible. The brand also offers pattern orders for select small goods — choose your leather and color in-store or via Zoom. Lead time is roughly six months.
