PLATINUM PEN's story starts in 1919. Founder Shunichi Nakata launched the fountain-pen business, and in 1924 established Nakaya Seisakusho in Ueno, Tokyo. Even early on, the company produced fountain pens decorated by maki-e artists.
A key milestone came in 1956, when Platinum put the world's first cartridge-type fountain pen into practical use. Making ink easier to handle helped lower the barrier for carrying a fountain pen day to day.
#3776 Century is a modern classic. It tackles ink drying with a cap that integrates the "Slip & Seal" mechanism — designed to help prevent ink from drying out for up to two years — while also revisiting nib and feed design to support smoother ink flow.
