Tea, Japanese sweets, and crafts. Savoring moments in Kyoto.

A food culture including tea symbolized by Uji tea, Japanese sweets, and Kyoto pickles, alongside crafts like Nishijin weaving, Kyo Yuzen, Kyo/Kiyomizu ware, folding fans, and Japanese umbrellas. Kyoto is a land abundant with things creating "time to savor slowly" in daily life. From a Made in Japan-first perspective, we introduce Kyoto's brands and workshops as an area where you can choose and combine tea and tableware, small fabrics, and accessories.

Organizing Tea Time with Uji Tea

In tea producing areas of Kyoto starting with Uji, diverse Japanese teas are made, such as sencha, gyokuro, matcha, and hojicha. We will introduce tea leaves and teabags suited for daily use, focusing on teas where you can enjoy differences in production area, variety, and steaming levels.

Japanese Sweets and Pickles to Enjoy with Tea

Tea sweets like yokan, monaka, and dry sweets, as well as Kyoto pickles like Senmai-zuke and Suguki-zuke, enrich tea and meal times. We will propose combinations with tea and seasonal ways to enjoy them, focusing on items from Japanese sweets and pickle shops particular about ingredients and manufacturing methods.

Nishijin Weaving, Kyo Yuzen, Kyo Ware: Small Kyoto Crafts

Kyoto crafts have many items easily incorporated into daily life, such as Nishijin weaving and Kyo Yuzen pouches and clasp coin purses, Kyo/Kiyomizu ware teacups and small plates, folding fans, and Japanese paper accessories. We will introduce mainly small crafts to slightly organize your tea time and personal surroundings.
